Lukas Tulovic’s recipe for success has reached again this time though the young talent from Germany got a penalty due to irresponsible riding during this afternoon’s Q1.

After what was a difficult start to the weekend, Moto2™ rookie Lukas Tulovic remained calm and most important he has taken good benefits from the experiences he made during Friday’s free practice sessions at the South American track. In dry conditions, the 18-year-old rider in Kiefer Racing found immediately his usual speed again. Already during this morning’s FP3 he could better his lap time by 1.2 seconds and during the time attack in qualifying, Tulovic was once again four tenth faster. In doing so he initially qualified for P27 on the starting grid.

But Tulovic has to tackle the season’s second race from 30th spot on the starting grid because of a penalty. The reason for this was a misjudgement of the rookie which was preceded by a mistake in the final stages of Q1 when he had to go wide during turn one. Tulovic, then, did a look back before he returned to the line in order to check the situation behind him. However, he was wrong in his estimation between the distance of the following riders and him so in braking zone for turn two he crossed the line of another rider who arrived there with normal race Speed.

Starting time for the race is on Sunday at 6:20pm CET.

#3 Lukas TULOVIC (Kiefer Racing, KTM), Grid Position 30th - 1´44.233 (7/8):

"As it has been shown in Qatar recently, it was right to stay calm, reviewing day one precisely and having a good sleep last night. That helped again because things went much better today. By the end of qualifying we were able to reduce the gap to the top guys from 2.8 to 1.5 seconds. In terms of our position it is a bit better than yesterday but my spot on the starting grid still doesn’t match where I want to be. For the race, however, everything is still possible."

"According to the weather forecast, it might even rain tomorrow. So, this would become a struggle for all because then everything will be mixed again. But I will not let that effect on me. The team has done a good job. After two days of practice I feel very comfortable with the bike’s setup. Therefore, let’s wait and see what will happen tomorrow but I’m ready in any case."
