Driven by his fondness for the beautiful circuit amidst the picturesque scenery of the Tuscany region, Lukas Tulovic once again delivered a talent rehearsal during Saturday's qualifying session.

In conditions as good as yesterday, Lukas Tulovic was able to improve consistently today. In this morning’s FP3, the 18-year-old talent made the first step when the temperatures were even cooler. So, the preparation for the decisive timed session in the afternoon, which decides the starting grid, was done properly. With a KTM Moto2 machine optimally tailored to his needs, it did not take long during Q1 to set lap times under the 1´53 marker for the first time. In his final attack, Tulovic improved his lap time one more time. With a 1´52,770 he finally did a very considerable lap time for a newcomer at the ultra-fast 5.2 kilometres circuit at the Autodromo of Mugello. The ambitious rider in Kiefer Racing has set his sights inspired on his debut race in Italy, which he will tackle from P2 on the starting grid.

Starting time for the season’s classic is scheduled for Sunday 12:20 pm CET.

#3 Lukas TULOVIC (Kiefer Racing, KTM), Grid position 24th - 1´52.770 (7/8):

"In qualifying, I was able to manage another big improvement. Therefore, I’m very happy. The bike’s setup was perfect because I felt that much comfortable. So, I would like to thank my crew for their excellent job. Unfortunately, I had no pulling horse or never a slipstream along the long main straight. Probably because I went out first. For several times I had a look back to see if a fast rider is bumping up to me. But it didn't come to that. On the other hand, that's very positive to see that I was able to do my thing alone."

"In the race it will certainly be a big help for me if I’m riding in a big group. Hopefully I can stay with them though, I’ll definitely give 100 per cent to make this happen. Some riders in front of me aren’t faster in terms of their pace. So, with a good start, nothing should go wrong actually. I'm really looking forward to the race, my first here at Mugello. I'm already excited about the mood on race day. In addition, I like this track indescribably. The layout is mostly fast and flowing which suites my riding well. I'm hot for my Tuscany premiere."
